چکیده

Surveillance cameras have become a customary security equipment in buildings and streets worldwide. It is up to thefieldof Computational Forensics toprovide automatedmethods for extracting andanalyzing relevant image data captured by such equipment. In this article, we describe an effective and semi-automatedmethod for detecting vanishing points, with their subsequent application to the problem of computing heights in single images. With no necessary camera calibration, our method iteratively clusters segments in the bidimensional projective space, identifying all vanishing points – finite and infinite – in an image. We conduct experiments on images of man-made environments to evaluate the output of the proposed method and we also consider its application on a photogrammetry framework. © 2015 Elsevier Inc. DPML-Risk: An Efficient Algorithm for Image Registration

Targets and objects registration and tracking in a sequence of images play an important role in various areas. One of the methods in image registration is feature-based algorithm which is accomplished in two steps. The first step includes finding features of sensed and reference images. In this step, a scale space is used to reduce the sensitivity of detected features to the scale changes. Afterw...

Introducing An Efficient Set of High Spatial Resolution Images of Urban Areas to Evaluate Building Detection Algorithms

The present work aims to introduce an efficient set of high spatial resolution (HSR) images in order to more fairly evaluate building detection algorithms. The introduced images are chosen from two recent HSR sensors (QuickBird and GeoEye-1) and based on several challenges of urban areas encountered in building detection such as diversity in building density, building dissociation, building sha...

Single View Reconstruction for Specific Curve Structures

This paper presents effective algorithms for reconstructing three-dimensional models of specific curve structures from single perspective view images. The proposed method begins with edge detection and filtering from photographs or paintings with fine perspective geometry. Feature lines and corner points are extracted by transferring detected edges to normal distance and normal angle space. Cur...

Detection of Vanishing Points Using Hough Transform for Single View 3D Reconstruction

Single View Reconstruction (SVR) is a technique to reconstruct three-dimensional scenes or objects of interest from a single image. Unlike traditional (multi-view) close-range photogrammetry, SVR does not require camera parameters for obtaining 3D coordinates of the targets. A common approach for SVR is to establish the 3D metrology based on vanishing points from a single image with perspective...

A multi-scale convolutional neural network for automatic cloud and cloud shadow detection from Gaofen-1 images

The reconstruction of the information contaminated by cloud and cloud shadow is an important step in pre-processing of high-resolution satellite images. The cloud and cloud shadow automatic segmentation could be the first step in the process of reconstructing the information contaminated by cloud and cloud shadow. This stage is a remarkable challenge due to the relatively inefficient performanc...
